"This building is a way of allowing a dynamic culture to evolve and grow through a stronger voice." - Adrian Iredale, Director of Iredale Pedersen Hook Architects.

The choice to use wall cladding made from COLORBOND® steel in the colour Monument® came from working closely with Nyoongar Elders who are culturally tied with the nearby Avon River.

Architects iredale pedersen hook (iph) says the building opens out to the river and closes down to the town with a solid facade that is muted by the dark Monument® colour that was chosen for its sense of shadow and adds to the building’s mysteriousness.

Consultations with Nyoongar Elders extended to the chosen LYSAGHT SPANDEK® walling profile. There was much discussion around the profile and how the visual effect would take place in combination with the colour, making the building appear as an abstract ‘tree’ with shifting shadows throughout the day.
